DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
Sauga Fishing Village is known as an active recreation and leisure centre with a harbour, boat hire, accommodations, and restaurant. The product development leads to the launch of the new experience package ‘Your Green Holiday’, which consists of accommodation in eco-houses, a river clean-up day, and Estonian national fish dishes.
GOAL OF THE PROJECT
In our work, we are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of a clean environment for a sustainable society. ‘Your Green Holiday’ is a holistic and sustainable visitor experience that aims to get people thinking about consumption chains in a fun but thoughtful way:
A responsible tourism company = more and longer-lasting opportunities for society.
Clean waters and thoroughly considered fishing = abundant wildlife, food resources, a longer-lasting cultural heritage, and culinary experiences.
Well-informed consumption and care for the environment = more resources for future generations.
RESULTS OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT
The new tourism product ‘Your Green holiday’ will be created, consisting of three interlinked parts.
- Accommodation. Two eco-houses with hot tubs will be constructed. The houses will be built with the aim of ensuring that the materials are recyclable and environmentally friendly. Reusable and recycled parts will also be used in the furnishings of the houses, which the visitor can read more on and educate themselves about during their stay. The decking material for the houses is made from plastic waste from households.
- River cleaning equipment. In addition to the existing boat hire equipment, magnets for cleaning up litter from water, litter picking tools, and buckets will be purchased. This way, it is possible to contribute to a cleaner environment by ‘trash fishing’ instead of catching fish. River clean-up days will be organised every day during ice-free periods. You can participate alone or with a group.
- A picnic basket containing local raw materials and Estonian fish for guests under the ‘Your Green Holiday’ package. Recreated recipes of coastal fishermen – everything that clean nature has to offer.
